This must be kept in mind if doing pro-longed fast road driving in warm or dry weather at which point I'd recommend looking elsewhere for high performance tires. However, it wears very quickly and having only done 8k miles this year a need a new front set. Terrible in the wet, very hard hence the good wear I guess , ok in the dry - far too noisy - not a tyre that should cost as much as this. Good outright grip and reasonably quiet for a tire in this class. Without rotation I will get to km at the front.
Awesome in the dry, loads of grip and good handling, pretty good in the wet too though don't like cold english mornings. Very good in the wet, hugely comfortable for the sector, seem to be wearing ok, but they're not as good handling as the Goodyears I had before. Golf 7 2.
I have the same size on my ST and bought the Vredesteins 2nd in the last Evo tyre test from Camskill. They post them to your home and you'll just need to pay your local tyre man to fit them. Thank you all, for your suggestions, i have gone with the Goodyear Eagle F1's. For anyone else who is wondering how they perform Well hope that makes sense. This car has HP. In the dry they have some grip but in the wet the traction control has to kick in every corner. Also with those tires it feels like the car is floating.
The wear and price is good, but if you like to have a safe drive, dont buy those tires! The road noise is terrible, the lack of grip is scary and the ride comfort is poor. All things considered, they are by far the worse tyres I have ever owned.
Spend the bit extra and get something decent. I would have to disagree. Firstly they look under pressure, with the correct pressures in and even when I up the upped psi they still looked saggy. They have made a great hot hatch feel terrible. However, having good road feedback and grip, allowing some little movements of the chassis thus making the car more playful and having a good balance between understeer and oversteer, make me recommend these tyres to anyone passionate about spirited driving.
These might be one of the best choices for spirited driving in countries with changing weather, except the expensive premium options of which there is a complete lack in this size.
I'm waiting for the snow to hit Romania to see how they handle the white stuff. It's amazing what this thing can do with the tread pattern. Have a mk 5 golf gti. New rims came with a set of triangles that were trashed, replaced them with the sportex, value for money is excellent. All round they are the best value I can find. Had worn out efficient grip performance set on front from previous owner, after rotating the front asym3's to the rear after a while I really thought the car needed suspension work due to body roll and understeer but after fitting these Asym 5's I can see it was all the tyres!
Had these on an old daily work horse and they are very comfy and fine for casual driving. These came new when I bought a used car.
