Visit Norton Reply Share. Norton VPN issue is consistent. Great product. Excessive ads even with a Deluxe subscription. I purchased Norton Deluxe with Lifelock a little over a year ago.

As far as it's protection, it is a great product. Though I do have a big issue with their service, this is their constant ads. I turned off my popups in windows so it stops notifying me but that is an annoyance on a paid product to be loaded with ads. Now they want me to use my computer's idle time for money. Well if they just had 1 banner ad and then let me close out that, it woul Show More d be fine.

Nope, now when I open up Norton to look at it there is a giant banner on top causing me to scroll through to get the the services I need. Why not make this closeable? Again, I am paying for this, enough with the ads. Guess what? Again with ads Again, I should be able to close this, there is a service behind this and I cannot access it because this ad is blocking it. Literally blocking the product I have paid for.

They have seriously blocked me from using a paid product by a stack of 6 ads for other services I might want. I buy antivirus for the obvious protection. I run a small business and I need my stuff secure, I need financials safe, I need to know that my customer's information is safe, I need to be able to communicate safely and reliably with customers so my phone and computer must have protection so I don't lose everything.

I completely understand Norton having better options, having other services available to me if needed. They are a great product and have ways to make it better.

What I think they should do instead of keeping constant banners and ads and popups is have a selectable option Need Something Else?

Hell, having 1 banner or ad pop up roughly once a month that had a little "x" on it which I could close to not see again would be fine. That is what other services do.

But this constant annoyance has brought me here, to knock their otherwise great product, because I feel if enough people know and share their negative experience Norton will hopefully change this to something a little less undesirable.

These common issues can often be resolved in a matter of minutes by quickly searching the community and seeing how other users have solved the issue. During these scams hackers hijack your phone number and most often the intention is to access mobile-payment accounts on your device.

This is a worthwhile new feature that could help you avoid a very costly and upsetting attack. This is not that uncommon however, as Netflix is very proactive in blocking VPNs. Avast: One of the best-known internet security brands around, Avast offers a comprehensive antivirus packaged with a large number of additional features. It is a good option for those who want all-around protection with tools such as a file shredder, VPN, and sandbox included with the premium version.

ESET: With an easy-to-use interface, excellent benchmarking scores in antivirus tests, and lower pricing than some providers, ESET is a good choice for many users. It is a good choice if you only have a few devices to cover. Although during my own tests there were some mixed results, we can give Norton the benefit of the doubt in this scenario as it performed exceeding well during comprehensive independent tests. Norton carries out its core functions quickly and efficiently.

For everyday computer use, I tend to use quick scans. There are also some excellent additional layers of security available. Within its premium services, Norton puts the focus on identity protection and offers a range of features that allow you to safeguard your online privacy and data.

Norton offers all of this at competitive prices and allows you to trial all but its most expensive program. I used Norton to scan and followed with a program called Malwarebytes. The system was slow and Norton detected nothing but Malwarebyes reported numerous programs running it called PUPs. Once removed by Malwarebytes the system exhibited increased speed. Here's what to look for. Antivirus software runs virus scans for known viruses and malware, of course, and can offer real-time protection.

And it watches for shady websites and suspicious links to keep you out of trouble. It can also offer ransomware protection and monitor unexpected behavior that may be a sign of new and not-yet-identified viruses and malware.
