Brookhaven college radiology program

The certificate is a two-semester program that begins each Fall. Didactic classes are held on Mondays from 5— p. Clinical experience begins in late September each year and requires 24 clock-hours per week. The Vascular Interventional certificate trains VIR technologists to use radiation and advanced patient care skills to produce vascular images of a patient. The radiographer uses radiation to produce internal images of the patient which are used by the physician to make a diagnosis.

For the vast majority of diagnostic procedures, the radiographer has total responsibility for the care and well-being of the patient and must be prepared to produce quality images with care and empathy. The graduate radiographer is eligible to sit for the examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and eligible to be a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist licensed by the Texas Department of Health. Radiographers work in hospitals, physician's offices, and primary care facilities.

Completion of the program and successful completion of the ARRT examination provides the graduate with credentials to continue their education in other radiologic specialty disciplines. Students wishing to be admitted to the Brookhaven Radiography program must comply with the following criteria outlined in this paragraph. The student must be admitted to a college of the DCCCD, have completed the five prerequisite courses with a 3.
